Amway is donating $100,000 to disaster relief efforts in Haiti -- as well as matching contributions its employees and distributors make through its Web site. The Ada-based direct seller says according to press reports its initial $100,000 donation will be split between the American Red Cross and SOS Children's Village. "We are fully committed to offering assistance quickly and meaningfully," said Jim Hunking, managing director of Amway operations in the Caribbean.

While Amway doesn't have offices in island nation, the company does have few hundred distributors -- also know as Independent Business Owners -- there selling products through its Amway Global division.

Amway is checking on the welfare of those distributors and their families, the company said.
"Our hearts go out to the victims, and we will be there to help Haiti recover from this tragedy and put the country back together."
