The US-company XanGo, LLC, is launching a distributor growth initiative in Russia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine, all countries that are a part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Grand Opening for this new market will occur on October 10 -11, 2009, at the Small Sport Arena in Moscow. “The time is right, and with the encouragement and support of the XanGo Board, XanGo is poised to grow in the CIS region,” said XanGo CEO Robert Conlee. “Direct sales has been well accepted there for many years,” Conlee explained, “and Russia is known globally as one of the top 10 direct sales markets in the world.” However, the industry has experienced some upheaval in the region related to the global economic uncertainty, and Conlee sees XanGo as offering a solution to veteran networkers: stability and an opportunity to grow with an established, successful company. |

Vorwerk Direct Selling Ventures, the corporate venture capital entity of the Vorwerk Group, has acquired a minority shareholding in Austrian direct selling company Enjo International GmbH. Enjo International develops, produces and distributes household cleaning products based on fibre technology. Enjo products are available globally in nearly 30 countries. Retail sales in 2009 will exceed € 40 million of which 60% are earned outside Europe. With its new partner Vorwerk Ventures, the company aims at further expanding its market position and boosting international growth. The parties have agreed to keep the details of the investment confidential.

Avon Products, announced that President Elizabeth (Liz) Smith has made the decision to leave the company effective October 30, 2009, to pursue her long-time leadership aspiration to be a chief executive officer. Avon said Ms. Smith made this decision following a highly successful five-year career with the company, during which she played an instrumental role in repositioning the business for long-term sustainable growth. |

XanGo founders and executives hosted a trade delegation representing the Royal Thai Government, led by Ms. Chantira J. Vivatrat, executive director of Thai Trade Center in Los Angeles and commercial consul to the Royal Thai Consulate Los Angeles. During today’s visit, the delegation recognized XanGo’s “creative use of mangosteen,” the national fruit of Thailand, and presented the company with a certificate of appreciation for being one of the pioneers in bringing mangosteen to a global market. |

Herbalife Ltd. a global nutrition and direct-selling company, announced that its agreement to buy certain assets of Micelle Laboratories, an Orange County, Calif. contract manufacturer of food and nutritional supplements, has closed. Herbalife purchased the assets in order to strengthen its global manufacturing capabilities for approximately $10 million in an all cash deal. Over the next year, Herbalife expects to invest up to $10 million in equipment and overall enhancements to increase plant capacity and capability to produce products for shipment throughout North America and several of its international markets. |
