Des Walsh is being promoted to president, from his role as executive vice president, worldwide operations and sales. A member of the executive team since he joined in 2004, Walsh is responsible for the growth of our business by working closely with distributors to achieve greater access to and deeper penetration of Herbalife products throughout the world. He oversees all distributor-facing functions in each region where the company conducts business. Walsh has worked with Johnson for more than 14 years including while serving as vice president of The Walt Disney Company’s Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

 
FreeLife Creates 100 Jobs in New HQ

ImageFreeLife International celebrated the grand opening of its headquarters in Phoenix Tuesday with an announcement that it has created 100 jobs and plans to grow that number to 300 over the next three years.The company selected Arizona for its world headquarters after a national search, according to an announcement by Gov. Jan Brewer’s office.“As we work to revitalize Arizona’s economy, FreeLife’s decision to establish and grow its world headquarters in Phoenix is a powerful sign we are on the right path,” said Brewer said in a statement. “These are real jobs and these are real economic opportunities for Arizona families and for the team here at FreeLife.”

 
OECD Cautiously Optimistic

ImageAs part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) unveiled the first indications of how the economic slump has impacted entrepreneurship in the United States and 11 other countries in 2008 and most of 2009. The report, Timely Entrepreneurship Indicators, shows that firm formation declined and exits increased, which economists say could have significant implications for job creation.

 
Google is suing Pacific WebWorks

ImageGoogle filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court in Utah accusing Pacific WebWorks and several unnamed defendants for running a scam selling work-from-home tool kits using Google's name. According to Google, people who signed up for the offer were hit with unfair reoccurring monthly credit card charges.

The tool kit is advertised as free, minus a nominal shipping and handling fee. However, Google alleges in the lawsuit that people who sign up for the offer have their credit cards hit with monthly fees and receive “little of value, or nothing at all, in return for their payments.”

Herbalife Distribution Center Thailand!Tim Sanson, the new general manager of Herbalife International (Thailand), is making it a priority to build a solid foundation for the business and support growth in local distributors. His goal is to make Herbalife one of the top five direct-sales companies in the Kingdom in terms of sales.
Sanson, who is also vice president for Southeast Asia of parent company Herbalife, said he would also work for a regional strategy and provide new country support for Thailand.

Amway China Outfits Its Salesforce with 3G Phones

ImageAmway China signed a new agreement with China Telecom on Friday to provide its salespeople with 3G phones with special online product and sales functions.

The agreement, which was signed at Amway China's headoffice in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, will let qualified Amway salespeople attain custom-made 3G smart phones with several functions especially designed for them. The functions include online shopping, sales queries, customer sevices and makeup simulation.
